Dear Mentor

I sit on the corner
And they thought I’m a loner
I do my work quietly
I do my best promptly.

You gave me light
You gave me sight
You showed motivation
You became an inspiration.

Everything seems to be perfect
Good influence without defect
All I did is do my best
To make you proud of my test.

Time doesn’t play
A mentor wouldn’t stay
To teach more you went west
To learn more I went east.

You gave me hope
As I climb my rope
You made me known
To those who didn’t know.

Was it the right thing to do?
They expected something to come true
To much was expected
Things I shouldn’t be tested.

I’m sorry dear mentor
I was so weak for more
Alive, I was burned
As I fall they moved backwards and turned.
